Girard audit results
GIRARD -- No findings were levied against the city as the result of an audit of the municipality's 2001 books by the state auditor's office.
State Auditor Jim Petro pointed out some weaknesses in accounting procedures.
City Auditor Sam Zirafi said the weaknesses were pointed out in the state's comprehensive performance audit issued in January, and issues have been or are being corrected.
Hospital power outage
WARREN -- Firefighters said water from Sunday's heavy thunderstorm caused a brief electrical outage at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Firefighters said that around 10:15 p.m. Sunday water leaked into the basement of the facility, causing power cables to short out.
The hospital generator supplied power until Ohio Edison workers were able to fix the problem, firefighters said.
Felon charged again
YOUNGSTOWN -- David Venable, a felon who already has a heroin trafficking charge pending in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, has been arrested again by the vice squad and charged with drug offenses.
Venable, 34, of Oxford Street was arrested Friday during a raid at a Foster Street home. Police said they found suspected heroin packaged for sale inside blue jeans in the trunk of a car and rocks of suspected crack cocaine in his left sock. Officers confiscated coffee grinders with suspected heroin residue.
Venable faces charges of trafficking in heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse cocaine. He will be arraigned Tuesday in municipal court.
He has been free on $25,000 bond since last month, when the trafficking charge was bound over to a grand jury from municipal court. In September 2001, he was released from a state prison, where he served time for gun and drug convictions. A year ago, he was sentenced to 170 days in the county jail on a drug conviction.

Impersonating officer
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two employees of Ohio State Police Constable Service on Logan Avenue will be in municipal court Tuesday, each charged with impersonating a police officer and carrying a concealed weapon. Courts were closed today for Veterans Day.
Police said they saw Curtis M. Bryant Jr., 59, of St. Louis Avenue and Efrain Gonzalez Jr., 33, of East Dewey Avenue dressed in police-type gear (hats, badges and jackets) on Steel Street late Friday. The men told police they were working security for The Splash, a bar on Steel Street. Both had guns concealed under their jackets, police said.
Bryant has been convicted of providing security without a license. He testified last week at the trial of another so-called constable who was found guilty of impersonating a police officer.
