Intersection to close
SALEM -- The intersection of Cunningham and Butcher roads will be closed for about three weeks beginning Tuesday.
Motorists will be detoured onto state Routes 14 and 344.
The closing will allow construction workers to reconfigure the intersection so that traffic on Cunningham does not have to stop at Butcher, as it does now.
The project is costing about $130,000.
Besides reconfiguring the intersection, the project also will entail widening a section of Cunningham.
The city is doing the project in anticipation of increased traffic on Cunningham from a Wal-Mart that's to open nearby in coming months.
