Way Station begins Christmas aid drive
COLUMBIANA -- The Way Station is organizing an adopt-a-family program for families needing assistance with Christmas gifts.
Sponsor families will be given the ages, sizes and interests of these families and will buy gifts for them.
Gifts will be wrapped and delivered to The Way Station using a number system and will be given directly to the needy family. All participants' names will be kept confidential.
Families wishing to be sponsors can register by calling (330) 482-5072. Families who need assistance must register in person at the Columbiana site, 42131 state Route 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday.
Applicants must bring photo identification, proof of income, and children's Social Security cards. Parents must have custody of minor children and must not be receiving any assistance from any other organization.
These families also will receive a food basket including a turkey for the Christmas holiday. The Way Station will accept donations of canned foods and turkeys to supply the needs of these people. The goal is to collect 150 turkeys.
Monetary donations should be sent to The Way Station, P.O. Box 449, Columbiana 44408. Specify "Christmas turkeys/food."
