The hunt for college football's national championship almost feels like a single-elimination tournament now: Entering last weekend's play, there were eight undefeated teams, but that elite group shrank to four after an incredible day of upsets.
Now the club has just two members.
Top-ranked Oklahoma lost to Texas A & amp;M 30-26 Saturday, as Terrence Kiel intercepted Nate Hybl's pass with 1:12 left to seal the Aggies' home victory.
Bowling Green (8-1) also lost for the first time, but the defeat by the Sooners (8-4) is the one that will turn the Bowl Championship Series standings on its head come Monday.
Miami, which breezed past Tennessee 26-3 in Knoxville, stands to move up to No. 1 in the AP media poll, as well as go from No. 3 to No. 1 in the BCS standings for the first time this season.
The Hurricanes (9-0) had been in the precarious position of being shut out for the chance to defend its national title. The Sooners were No. 1 in the BCS, but there's no telling how harshly the voters -- and the computers -- will punish them.
And what to do with Ohio State, the only other Division I-A team besides Miami without a loss? The Buckeyes (No. 2 BCS, No. 3 AP) defeated Purdue 10-6 to improve to 11-0.
