SHARON, PA. City will kick off holidays with annual Light Up Night
SHARON, Pa. -- The city will hold its annual Light Up Night to kick off the holidays on State Street in the downtown business district Nov. 21.
There will be the annual lighting of the Christmas torch directly across the street from The Winner department store at 32 W. State St. and performances by a community band and a choir.
Police will close State Street from Shenango Avenue to Water Avenue beginning at 8 a.m.
At 4 p.m., another block of State Street will be closed to the east to Vine Avenue to allow food vendors to set up on State Street between Vine Avenue and the Shenango River.
At 6:15 p.m., a small torch used to light the Christmas torch will move in a parade from Daffin's Candies at 496 E. State St. to the site of the Christmas torch. James DeCapua, executive director of Mercer County Regional Council of Governments, will light the torch this year. That will occur at 7 p.m.
After the music and brief speeches, the evening will end with a fireworks display from atop The Winner.
