WASHINGTON -- Olaf Kolzig made 43 saves, and Sergei Gonchar sparked a four-goal second period with his first goal of the season. Kolzig has allowed only two goals in consecutive victories after returning from a left wrist injury. Steve Konowalchuk, Jaromir Jagr and Peter Bondra also scored in the second period.
Canadiens 3, Kings 1
MONTREAL -- Yanic Perreault scored two power-play goals, and Jeff Hackett came within 2:14 of his first shutout in more than 21/2 years. Richard Zednik scored between Perreault's goals as Montreal took a 3-0 lead in the first period.
Bruins 7, Senators 1
BOSTON -- Joe Thornton, Bryan Berard and Jozef Stumpel scored power-play goals as Boston routed Ottawa. Thornton added three assists for the Bruins, who equaled their season-high goal total. Boston, which entered second to last in the NHL in power play and had scored just five goals while an advantage, went 3-for-8. The Bruins have won eight of 12 games since dropping their season opener.
Blues 6, Maple Leafs 3
ST. LOUIS -- Doug Weight and Dallas Drake each scored two goals. Weight's first of the game came at 1:09 of the third period to make it 4-1 and extend his points streak to 10 games. His second goal and seventh this season, at 14:36, came when Weight took a pass from Cory Stillman, skated in and beat Toronto goalie Trevor Kidd. Al MacInnis and Jamal Mayers also scored for St. Louis. Mikael Renberg had two goals for Toronto.
Thrashers 6, Sabres 4
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Pascal Rheaume and Dany Heatley scored twice each as Atlanta beat the slump-ridden Buffalo. After starting the season with two straight wins, Buffalo (3-8-3) is winless in eight games, four short of the team record set in 1990-91.
Blackhawks 3, Lightning 2, OT
TAMPA, Fla. -- Igor Korolov scored his second goal of the game on a breakaway with 2:21 left in overtime. Korolev beat Nikolai Khabibulin with a backhand shot after the Blackhawks killed off a 5-on-3 power play. It was the first loss this season at home for the Lightning, who had won their first five. Vaclav Prospal got the Lightning even at 2 with a power-play goal at 8:42 of the third period.
Panthers 3, Flames 0
MIAMI -- Valeri Bure had a goal and an assist, and Jani Hurme stopped 28 shots for Florida. Bure and Kristian Huselius each scored power-play goals in the second period, and Huselius has goals in three straight games. Olli Jokinen added an empty-net goal at 19:21 and an assist.
Oilers 6, Devils 3
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Jussi Markkanen made 36 saves, and the Edmonton Oilers had their best offensive effort of the season in beating the usually stingy New Jersey. Ethan Moreau had two goals and an assist, Marty Reasoner had a goal and an assist, and linemates Ryan Smyth, Mike Comrie and Anson Carter all scored in helping the Oilers snap a two-game losing streak. Brian Rafalski, Christian Berglund and John Madden scored for the Devils, who came into the game with an NHL best 1.54 goals against average.
