Van Horn, 76ers foil Cavaliers

Keith Van Horn's 28 points led Philadelphia to a 108-84 win over Cleveland for its fourth-straight victory.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- This was the type of performance the Philadelphia 76ers envisioned when they traded for Keith Van Horn.
With Allen Iverson bothered by a sprained right thumb, Van Horn shot 4-for-4 from 3-point range and finished with 28 points as the Sixers won their fourth straight game with a 108-84 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"That's what we got him for. It was good to see him dominate tonight," said Iverson, who added 17 points and seven assists.
"Keith played great," 76ers coach Larry Brown said. "He had 28 points on 15 shots -- that's pretty incredible."
Iverson cleared to play
Iverson was originally not scheduled to play Friday after injuring the hand in Wednesday's win over the Los Angeles Clippers, but was cleared less than an hour before gametime.
"After the last game, I didn't feel I'd be able to go," Iverson said. "But I woke up today and it felt good. After shoot-around, I decided to go."
Aaron McKie and Brian Skinner each had 12 points, Greg Buckner scored 11 and Eric Snow had 11 assists for the Sixers, who have not lost since dropping the season opener in Orlando. Philadelphia has defeated Cleveland 13 straight times.
Ricky Davis had 31 points on 14-of-24 shooting from the field, Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 20, Jumaine Jones added 10 and Tyrone Hill had 13 rebounds for the Cavs, who have lost two straight.
"[The Sixers] are a team we want to be like in a year or two," Cavaliers coach John Lucas said. "They really guarded us. We looked like little boys against grown men."
Opened big lead
Philadelphia opened up a big lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Cavs 31-22. The Sixers closed the quarter on a 23-10 run, with a layup by Van Horn giving them a 53-37 lead at the break.
The lead reached 29 in the third quarter as Van Horn paced a frenzied offense, scoring 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field including three 3-pointers.
During one stretch, the Sixers scored six straight points on 'alley-oop' passes from Iverson and held a 21-point lead after three quarters. Philadelphia was 17-for-25 from the field in the third.
"We played about as good a second and third quarter as I think we can play," Brown said.
Notes
Philadelphia got a scare when Iverson went down in the second quarter after being hit in the eye by Smush Parker. After being worked on by trainer Lenny Currier during a timeout, Iverson stayed in.
Iverson made his first 3-pointer of the season after going 0-for-17 in his first four games.
Cavs coach John Lucas was coach of the Sixers from 1994-96. Jumaine Jones and Tyrone Hill are also former Sixers, with both playing on the team that reached the NBA Finals in 2001.
The Cavaliers have lost eight straight in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia's Efthimios Rentzias made his debut, becoming the third Greek player in the NBA. He made a 3-pointer.
