CAMPBELL -- The Kayla Hankey Benefit Committee and The American Red Cross will co-sponsor a marrow donor drive and bloodmobile from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 24 at St. Elizabeth Church, 124 Keystone St.
Kayla, a 12-year-old seventh-grader at Campbell Middle School, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in September 1994. She was treated with chemotherapy and remained in remission until April 1999. When Kayla's leukemia returned, she was treated with chemotherapy and again went into remission until this August. To survive, doctors have determined she needs a bone marrow transplant.
She is the daughter of Clarence and Charlotte Hankey.
For information on becoming a donor, call Ruby Gamble, marrow donor recruiter at (888) 862-7769.
