Trumbull United Way pledges and donations at $1.6M

WARREN -- United Way of Trumbull County has announced this year's campaign has so far generated more than $1.6 million in pledges and contributions.
The campaign takes a slightly different approach, in that organizers did not set a specific monetary goal for this year.
Donald E. Moore, vice president of Trumco Insurance and campaign chairman, said ongoing efforts through the rest of the campaign will be critical to meet the needs of the 29 health and human service agencies supported by United Way funds.
Moore acknowledged that although there has been growth in several areas of the annual campaign, there still remains a challenge to offset the downturn of the local and ongoing work-force attrition, especially in the industrial areas.
The countywide appeal, which benefits more than 140 programs and services, assists one in three Trumbull County residents each year, he said.
