AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a Parkgate Avenue man after receiving two reports of a man's posing to be an exterminator to gain access to homes. The instances occurred about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at apartments in the 2500 block of Raccoon Road and 4500 block of Deer Creek Court. The man knocked on various apartment doors, telling the residents mice and cockroaches had been found in the building and that he needed to inspect their apartments, police reports said. One resident told police that after entering her apartment, the man searched the kitchen and bathroom cabinets and asked her to remove items from the bathroom cupboard while he looked around. The victim told police the man left after realizing that she was following him. Police impounded a green GMC pickup truck parked in the suspect's driveway that they believe he used to dupe apartment residents. An insecticide sprayer with an Orkin logo, flashlight, sweatshirt and folder full of Terminex work orders also were taken as evidence.
