Addition gets OK
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Dr. Dale Pokorney has the city's permission to add a large file and chart storage room at the back of his Medical Specialty Group building at 2501 Shenango Valley Freeway.
The Hermitage Zoning Hearing Board granted Pokorney a zoning variance Monday to allow construction of the 17.5-by-44-feet addition.
The building is in an office building district, but the expansion will encroach on a general residential zoning district and a variance was needed to allow its construction.

Shooter acquitted
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Mahoning County Common Pleas jury acquitted Larry McClinton, 45, of Kendis Circle on Tuesday of two counts of felonious assault stemming from a July shooting. McClinton, who has been jailed since the July 6 shooting, was to be released after the verdict, said his attorney, Mark Lavelle of New Middletown.
McClinton had been accused of shooting Craig Owens, 20, of Bassett Lane, in the arm and of shooting at Anthony Tensley, 22, of Kendis Circle. Tensley was not injured.
Assistant Prosecutor Robert J. Andrews said McClinton fired five shots at the men over a dispute that started when one of the men sat on the car of McClinton's girlfriend. Lavelle had argued that the men were "thugs" who McClinton shot in self-defense.
