Sewer system plans, costs to be ready for village soon
HANOVERTON -- Plans for a sewer system for the village should be ready soon, according to Mayor Dan Kibler.
Kibler told village council Monday that the consulting engineers on the project, MS Consultants of Youngstown, said they have considered plans and alternatives and expect to have cost estimates available by the middle of this month.
Kibler said the council could go over the information at the December council meeting and then set a public meeting for residents.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has ordered the village to abate a pollution problem caused by failing septic systems.
In other business, Kibler noted that he, village clerk Deb Blazer, and Councilman David Kiewall, chairman of the finance committee, will have a post-audit hearing with a representative from the state auditor's office Wednesday. Kibler noted the audit, covering two years, is expected to cost the village $11,746. That cost amounts to more than 10 percent of the village's annual income, and officials want to get the cost reduced, Kibler said.
