PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The Miami Hurricanes are making a habit of playing close games. Whether the latest one hurts them in the polls remains to be seen. For the third time in as many games, the top-ranked Hurricanes had to rally to win. This time, lowly Rutgers put a fright into them, taking a 17-14 lead into the fourth quarter before Ken Dorsey led them to a 42-17 victory.
No. 2 Oklahoma 27, No. 13 Colorado 11
NORMAN, Okla. -- Nate Hybl threw three touchdown passes, Quentin Griffin ran for 128 yards and No. 2 Oklahoma took advantage of Colorado's mistakes to beat the 13th-ranked Buffaloes. With their third straight victory over a ranked team, the Sooners (8-0, 4-0 Big 12) justified their position atop the Bowl Championship Series ratings. Oklahoma also beat then-No. 3 Texas and then-No. 9 Iowa State.
Florida 20, No. 5 Georgia 13
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Georgia might still get to celebrate a championship this season. Just not Saturday night, and not against Florida, the team that befuddles the Bulldogs. Rex Grossman threw for 339 yards to help the Gators breathe life back into their on-and-off season with a victory over the fifth-ranked Bulldogs.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- No matter how poorly Nebraska has played on the road, it's nearly invincible at home. That is, until the Texas Longhorns come to town. Chris Simms passed for a career-high 419 yards, and Nathan Vasher intercepted Jammal Lord's pass at the 1 yard-line in the closing seconds to give No. 7 Texas a win over Nebraska.
No. 8 Washington State 44, No. 16 Arizona State 22
PULLMAN, Wash. -- Jason Gesser threw three touchdown passes as No. 8 Washington State took over sole possession of first place in the Pac-10 Conference with a win over 16th-ranked Arizona State. Jermaine Green scored on runs of 13 and 10 yards as Washington State (8-1, 5-0) became the front-runner for the Rose Bowl.
Georgia Tech 24, No. 10 N.C. St. 17
RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina State couldn't hold onto its lead, ending the Wolfpack's bid for an unbeaten season. Gordon Clinkscale's 14-yard touchdown run with 9:23 to play helped Georgia Tech rally from an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the 10th-ranked Wolfpack.
No. 12 Alabama 30, Vanderbilt 8
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tyler Watts threw for 176 yards and ran for a touchdown, and No. 12 Alabama used a suffocating defense to beat Vanderbilt for its 18th straight victory in this series. Alabama (7-2, 4-1 Southeastern Conference), which a week earlier got its 750th victory, assured Vanderbilt (2-7, 0-5) of its 20th consecutive losing season.

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Ell Roberson ran for three touchdowns and threw for another -- all before halftime -- as No. 14 Kansas State routed Kansas in the 100th meeting between the schools. Darren Sproles added 110 yards rushing and two TDs for the Wildcats, who had five touchdown drives of 1 minute or less and outgained Kansas 494-115 in the most lopsided game in series history.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Adrian McPherson threw for 278 ards and two touchdowns in his first start and Nick Maddox added 122 yards on the ground as No. 18 Florida State beat Wake Forest. The Seminoles (6-3, 5-0 ACC) moved into sole possession of first in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Jason Fife threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score as No. 19 Oregon bounced back from two straight defeats with a win over Stanford. The Ducks, coming off home losses to Arizona State and Southern California, beat Stanford for just the second time in six tries at Autzen Stadium.

AMES, Iowa -- Seneca Wallace set a school record with 493 total yards, and Mike Wagner scored on a 1-yard run with 32 seconds left, giving No. 22 Iowa State the victory over Missouri.
No. 25 Tennessee 18, South Carolina 10
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Tennessee shook off the problems of the past two games and did what it usually does in November: win. Casey Clausen threw for one touchdown and ran for another in the Vols' victory over South Carolina.
