NEW YORK -- Dr. W. Timothy Coombs, formerly of Niles, is the recipient of the 2002 Jackson, Jackson & amp; Wagner Behavioral Science Prize awarded by the Public Relations Society of America. The annual award recognizes an individual behavioral science researcher for work contributing to the public relations profession.
Coombs won for his research on crisis communication, which aims to help crisis managers to more effectively protect their organization's reputation and to help victims during a crisis. His research was also a part of his 1999 book, "Ongoing Crisis Communication."
Coombs lives in Charleston, Ill where he teaches at Eastern Illinois State University and consults for Communication Resources Northwest. He is a 1978 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and has a doctorate in public affairs and issue management from Purdue University.
POLAND -- Mandie L. Hiznay, a registered representative with Hiznay & amp; Associates in Poland, has earned Captain's Club and Admiral's Club memberships from PLANCO, a Wayne, Pa.-based wholesaler of investment and insurance products. Criteria include completion of travel business courses, years of service in the industry, convention attendance and service in the industry.
