KSU Trumbull hosts Kiwanis Turkey Trot Thanksgiving
CHAMPION -- The Warren Kiwanis Club will conduct its 24th annual Turkey Trot Thanksgiving morning at Kent State University's Trumbull Campus. Last year, more than 1,200 people participated in the 5-mile run and 2-mile fun walk/run, raising $9,000 for charitable causes through participant registration fees and corporate sponsorships.
"This is our club's largest fund-raising activity each year," chairman Greg Yurco said. "The race is a Thanksgiving tradition for many and is the largest such event in the tri-county area."
The 2-mile fun run/walk begins at 9 a.m., and the 5-mile race starts at 9:45 a.m. Both races start and finish at the campus. Awards will be presented in the administration building's Lecture Hall A after the races.
The preregistration fee is $13 a person. Previous participants will receive a registration form in the mail. The fee includes a long-sleeved shirt if the paid entry is received by Nov. 22. Race-day registration is an additional $2. There is a limited supply of shirts for race-day registrants.
For entry forms or more information, visit the Kiwanis Web site to download an entry form at www.Warrenkiwanis.homestead.com or e-mail Ted Rupe, race director, at Ted.Rupe@neomin.org.
Entry forms also will be available at area YMCA and YWCA locations and at Second Sole in Boardman.
