Boccieri offended
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- State Rep. John Boccieri is offended by a radio ad by Randy Pope, his Republican opponent, which the incumbent says mocks and belittles his military service record.
The ad includes a mock interview with Boccieri, who answers questions by saying, "I fly airplanes." The ad began running Thursday.
Boccieri, a New Middletown Democrat, is a pilot in the Air Force Reserve.
"It's inexplicable that my opponent would make such an attack at a time when I may have to leave my family to defend our country in Iraq," Boccieri said.
Attempts to reach Pope, an Alliance Republican, were unsuccessful Friday.
