Man stable after being shot in leg

YOUNGSTOWN -- A trail of blood led from the doorway of the South Side duplex where a 21-year-old man was shot in the left leg Thursday evening to the nearby office of the ambulance company that took him to the hospital in critical condition.
The victim, Walter Green, was in stable condition this morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Police knocked on the door of Consolidated Ambulance, 3600 Southern Blvd. at Hilton Avenue, telling employees inside that a man sitting outside had just been shot, said Lt. David Ewing Jr., a supervisor with the ambulance company.
The shooting occurred at 3618A Southern Blvd. around 9:30 p.m. Police were on the scene for at least three hours, collecting shell casings and blood samples and taking photographs.
Bullet holes were plainly visible at the top of the exterior door and in the ceiling above the staircase leading to an upstairs apartment at the duplex. Police had a sport utility vehicle towed from the scene.
