KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS

KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS
Q. Where can I find information on pop-up types of books, which when opened cause figures, animals, people and other things to open and pop up?
A. Write the Movable Book Society, P.O. Box 11654, New Brunswick, N.J. 08906. An annual membership is available for $20 and includes a quarterly newsletter, which features articles, surveys, new book reviews, sources for out-of-print books, announcements of exhibits, and comments and questions from collectors. The society, organized in 1993, has 450 members worldwide and holds biennial meetings. You'll find membership details on the Web at www.rci.rutgers.edu/~montanar/mbs.html.
Q. I have quite a few little glass creamers of the type that were once used in restaurants, and that you don't see on restaurant tables anymore. How can I find out more about them, and if any are still around? Also, would they have any value?
A.. Everything you want to know about them can be found in Creamers, a charming little zinelike quarterly newsletter devoted to glass dairy creamers. A four-issue subscription is available for $5 from Lloyd A. Bindscheattle (to whom checks should be made payable), P.O. Box 11, Lake Villa, Ill. 60064-0011.
Q. I have a collection of Jim Beam Ducks Unlimited decanters and would like to know how to ascertain the value of this collection.
A. To check out their values, look in "Kovels' Bottles Price List -- 12th Edition," by Ralph and Terry Kovel (LW Books; [800] 777-6450). It is available online, in bookstores or for $19.45 postpaid to LW Book Sales, P.O. Box 69, Gas City, Ind. 46933.
