INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State sophomore outfielder Kendall Schlabach was named Horizon League player of the week.
In six games Schlabach, an outfielder, hit .520 (13-for-25) as YSU which won four times. He raised his average to .386 and has a 10-game hitting streak.
Schlabach is hitting .413 in the league.

Boardman relaysets school record
AUSTINTOWN -- Boardman High's girls 4x400-meter relay of Kristen Agnew, Monica Cuevas, Brittany Durkin and Amber Bland set a school record Tuesday with a time of 4 minutes, 4.2 seconds, breaking the previous record of 4:06.4 set at the Mahoning County meet earlier this year by Liz Yazbek, Bland, Durkin and Cuevas.
The Spartans have set five school records and broken 12 meet records this season.
Game changes
* POLAND -- The Boardman at Poland varsity softball game Thursday has been moved to the Poland Community Softball Complex on Sheridan Road, beginning at 5 p.m.
* NILES -- The Trumbull County doubleheader recently postponed at Cafaro Field has been rescheduled for May 14.
Howland will play Warren Harding at 4 p.m. and Niles will meet Girard at 6:30 p.m.
Mooney to hosttrack and field meet
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Cardinal Mooney Booster Club is sponsoring a parochial Junior High track meet on Saturday at the school's new all-weather facility.
Invitations have been extended to parochial junior high teams from Mahoning and Trumbull counties and also from teams from Western Pennsylvania.
Competition is slated to begin at 9:30 and conclude with an awards ceremony at 1:30 p.m.
Giant Eagle namedas Open qualifier
VIENNA -- The Giant Eagle LPGA Classic has been selected as the U.S. qualifying site for the 2002 Weetabix Women's British Open.
Five qualifying spots will be available for the British Open, the LPGA's final major of the season.
The qualifier will be played during the first two rounds July 19-20 at Squaw Creek Country Club.
The British Open is Aug. 8-11 at Turnberry Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland.
Three take part inwheelchair games
CLEVELAND -- Three area athletes will be part of the Buckeye PVA team participating in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Cleveland on July 9-13.
Darrel McMcauley of Warren will participate in the javelin, shot, 5K road race, 100-meters and the 200-meters while Warren's Cheryl Hiede is scheduled for the bowling, 9-ball, 5K and table tennis.
Also, Richard Ackerman of North Bloomfield is set to participate in the air rifle, slalom (manual), softball and table tennis.

CANTON -- The Hubbard OldTimer baseball team trailed 3-0 in the sixth inning but rallied to defeat the Canton Masters 5-3 Sunday.
Paul Ellis hit a two-run single to break a 3-3 tie.
