MDA plans 'lockup' event

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Eastern Ohio Muscular Dystrophy Association will issue more than 75 "arrest warrants" Thursday to local businesspeople accused of having big hearts.
Those receiving warrants will be jailed at The Embassy, a Struthers banquet hall, until they raise $1,500 bail -- contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The lockup runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Youngstown Buick-Pontiac-GMC Truck and Fab Limo will provide transportation for the jailbirds; Alltel will provide phones for them to solicit contributions.
Belleria Pizza, Subway, Crispy Chicken, Plaza Bakery, Giant Eagle and Millard Florist will provide food for the prisoners and decorations for the banquet hall.
MDA works to find cures for 43 neuromuscular diseases through medical research and provides comprehensive patient services such as transportation to clinics, wheelchairs and a summer camp for children. Programs are funded by contributions.
