YOUNGSTOWN -- Eighth-seeded Youngstown State (10-30, 1-13) will face top-seeded Illinois-Chicago (38-20, 12-2) in the first round of the Horizon League tournament in Dayton, Thursday at 9 a.m.
The Penguins and Flames split a doubleheader during the season. UIC won 9-0 but YSU took the nightcap 4-3.
The Penguins have lost 11 in a row.
Todd Murgatroyd named at Urbana
URBANA -- Todd Murgatroyd, an assistant coach at Youngstown State, was selected as head football coach at Urbana University on Monday.
Murgatroyd worked under Ohio State coach Jim Tressel when Tressel was at Youngstown State. He also worked for Johnny Majors at Tennessee and was an assistant coach at Hawaii and Kent State.
Murgatroyd replaces Keenan Leichty, who resigned in March. In two seasons at Urbana, which plays in the NAIA, Leichty posted a 2-18 record.

Ex-Washingtonplayer dies
SEATTLE -- Curtis Williams, paralyzed from the neck down while playing football for the University of Washington in October 2000, died. He was 24.
Williams died at his brother's home in Fresno, Calif.
The former safety was injured in a helmet-to-helmet hit in a game against Stanford. He had spinal-cord surgery and was left with no voluntary muscle movement.
Grand Valley playercollapses, dies
ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Grand Valley State basketball player Derek Smith collapsed and died after playing in a pickup game, school officials said.
Smith, 19, collapsed shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday at the school's gymnasium. He fell backward while sitting on the gym floor, taking a break after playing a pickup basketball game.
Two prep starsdeclare for NBA
NEW YORK -- Lenny Cooke, who did not play basketball this season because he had run out of high school eligibility, said Monday he will make himself available for the NBA draft.
On the same day the 6-foot-6 Cooke made his announcement, 6-10 Amare Stoudemire of Orlando Fla., said he would also bypass college. They joined DeAngelo Collins of Inglewood Calif., as high school players who have declared for the draft to be held in June.
Arum, statereach agreement
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Boxing promoter Bob Arum persuaded New Jersey regulators not to revoke his license for paying a $100,000 bribe.
An agreement scheduled for approval Wednesday by the state Casino Control Commission clears the way for Arum to resume doing business with casinos.
Arum apologized for paying off former IBF chairman Robert W. Lee to sanction a 1995 fight between George Foreman and Axel Schulz.

* ROME -- For all of his success, Andre Agassi has never won the Italian Open. He did make the final once, in 1989 -- when Andy Roddick was just 6.
Roddick followed Agassi onto center court at the Foro Italico, and both picked up straight-set victories in the first round.
The 32-year-old Agassi beat Nicolas Kiefer 6-3, 6-2, before Roddick eliminated Alex Calatrava 6-2, 6-3 in the French Open tuneup.
* BERLIN -- Elena Likhovtseva knocked the first seeded player out of the German Open, defeating No. 17 Tatiana Panova 7-5, 3-5, 7-6 (3) as the top players got a day off.
Martina Hingis, hobbling with a left foot injury, withdrew.
* WARSAW, Poland -- Sixth-seeded Samantha Reeves of the United States beat Jana Kandarr of Germany 7-6 (4), 6-2 in the first round of the $170,000 J & amp;S Cup.
