Students to take part in Envirothon

JAMESTOWN, Pa. -- Nearly 1,000 high school students across northwestern Pennsylvania will participate in this year's 19th Pennsylvania Envirothon.
The competition tests students' knowledge of environmental resources and their relation to one another and human activities and is sponsored by the state Department of Environmental Protection.
Students in grades nine through 12 will complete exercises in aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife and a current environmental issue on the county level and county winners advance to state competition May 20-21 at the Montour PPL Preserve in Montour County.
The winner there advances to national competition.
Students from Lawrence County will compete Tuesday at Cascade Park in New Castle.
Students from Mercer and Crawford counties will compete Thursday at Pymatuning State Park.
