Program warns Springfield teens against fast driving

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Mahoning Safe Communities, Springfield schools and the village police department will present "Parents Against Speeding Teens," an hourlong program on the dangers and consequences of driving too fast, to students at Springfield High School at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
PAST was formed by a New Hampshire couple aftertwo teen-agers who were traveling in excess of 90 mph lost control of their car, swerved into the path of an oncoming van and were killed.
The van driver, father of two small children, was left a quadriplegic and died four years after the crash.
MCS, housed at the Mahoning County Board of Health, is a community-based program designed to create awareness and prevent injuries caused by traffic crashes.
