HERMITAGE -- Shenango Valley Mall will have its annual Mother-Child Look-Alike Contest at 2 p.m. Saturday. Contestants must register in advance at the mall customer service counter. The mall also will have a women's expo throughout the day. UPMC Horizon Hospital will present a brief seminar on women's health at 1 p.m., and representatives from Mary Kay Cosmetics, Creative Memories, Pampered Chef and Shaklee will answer questions and offer merchandise.
Locally made scented candles also will be on sale for $10 each. The double-wick candles are available in rose and vanilla scents, and gift wrapping will be provided. Proceeds will benefit the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
Internships available
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- U.S. Rep. Melissa Hart of Bradford Woods, R-4th, is accepting applications from college students in Pennsylvania's 4th Congressional District for summer internships at her Lawrence County office. Internships provide a unique learning experience for college students who have completed at least one year of school. They will gain firsthand experience and knowledge of the political process and the operations of a congressional office, she said.
Limited positions are available, and interested students are selected based on their academic qualifications and work experience, Hart said.
