HUBBARD -- A test run of a LifeFlight helicopter will be May 13 at Hubbard Community Pool.
Greg Filipski, pool aquatics director, said a program will be presented at 12:30 p.m. and the Allegheny General Hospital LifeFlight helicopter will arrive between 1 and 1:30 p.m.
Filipski said the program is designed to establish a global positioning site at the pool in case of an emergency and provide training for lifeguard and emergency responder students.
Students will learn how to coordinate a flight, establish a landing zone and practice loading techniques.
Lifeguard training
KINSMAN -- An American Red Cross lifeguard training session will be from 4 to 8 p.m. June 3-7 and 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. June 8 at Girl Scout Camp Sugarbush, 6515 state Route 88. Participants must reach age 15 by June 1, swim 500 yards nonstop, including 100 yards each of freestyle, breast stroke and sidestroke, and pay a $75 fee, which includes the cost of books and a CPR face mask. Potential participants will be tested during the first hour, and those who don't meet the swimming requirements will be excused with a full refund. Those passing the course and receiving a lifeguard certification may apply to be summer lifeguards at the camp.
