PREP SOFTBALL Raiders' Jenn Toth one-hits Blue Devils



The South Range pitcher helped her team move into a tie for first in the ICL.
BERLIN CENTER -- South Range High School's Jenn Toth pitched a one-hitter, struck out eight and didn't give up a walk in pitching a complete game as the Raiders blanked Western Reserve 4-0 Friday.
The Raiders (9-3), now tied for first place with Springfield in the Inter-County League, dropped the Blue Devils (9-4) into second place.
Jen Ridgeway hit two doubles, drove in a run and scored once for the Raiders (15-5).
Crystal Schuler hit a triple and single and scored once. Toth hit a double and single, stole a base and scored once.
Kristen Kurth of Western Reserve broke up Toth's bid for a no-hitter when she hit a single with one away in the fifth inning.
Southington 6, Ledgemont 4: THOMPSON -- Junior Bethanie Dunlap made her first varsity pitching performance one to remember with a four-hitter for the Wildcats (10-7, 7-2 East Suburban Conference).
Haylie Meyers had three hits and two RBIs, Brittanie Gillum had a single and a double, while Katie Fiest had two hits for the Wildcats.
Marlington 4, West Branch 0: BELOIT -- Marlington pitcher Lindsay Royer allowed just three hits in shutting out West Branch.
She struck out eight and walked three.
Ellie Geiger had two hits and Nikki Pierce had hits for the Warriors (11-10, 3-7 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
Pierce, who struck out 10 and walked five, took the loss.
