YO-MAH-0 Member of area chapter to head Ohio Division, IAAP



The new president has been active at the local level since 1991.
CINCINNATI -- The Ohio Division, International Association of Administrative Professionals, installed Joan Giba of Yo-Mah-O Chapter of Youngstown as president during an annual meeting that was held May 17-18.
As a member of the local chapter since 1991, Giba has served as president, president-elect, vice president and recording secretary, and chaired several committees. She also chaired the Ohio Division annual meeting in 1998, served the division as recording secretary, vice president and president-elect, and was the Northeast Ohio Local Area Networking coordinator.
Background
Giba was an administrative assistant executive secretary in the engineering department of the Cafaro Co. for 16 years and has been project manager and office manager of International Towers for 13 years.
She is a Certified Assistant Housing Manager and has attained a National Assisted Housing Professional Executive rating and a Certified Professional Secretary designation.
Giba was recognized in the 2001 edition of International Who's Who of Public Service. She is serving her eighth term on the board of trustees for Midwest Affordable Housing Management Association and is a member of the Certified Professional Secretary Academy.
A member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians in Youngstown, she and her husband, John, have two children and four grandchildren.
The meeting
Speaking at the division meeting was Scott Burin, general manager of International Towers, and assisting with the installation was Ruth Pittman of the Youngstown chapter.
Representing Yo-Mah-O at the event were Joan Battagline, Roseann DeSimone Cullen, Judy Cundik, Marlene Dailey, Melissa Ferraro, Tracy Goad, Mary Mislay Hake, Pauline Hruby, Joyce Laska, Ruth Milligan, Karen Shidemantle and Christine Simone.
