WARREN Drug probe results in three arrests

Agents were pursuing a search warrant today to open a confiscated safe.
WARREN -- Officers and agents from several law enforcement agencies arrested three people on drug trafficking charges following a monthlong investigation.
Frank D'Alisio of the Youngstown office of the federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms said a 22-year-old Tod Avenue Northwest man was arrested Thursday afternoon during a raid at his house. He was to appear in Warren Municipal Court today.
The monthlong investigation involved officers and agents from the Niles police narcotics unit, Trumbull County Drug Task Force, ATF and the bureau's Armed Criminal Enforcement Unit. The Trumbull County Tactical Response Team also participated in the raids. The ATF task force includes officers from Youngstown Police and the Mahoning County Sheriff's office. Agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.
D'Alisio said $45,000 in cash, a half-ounce of suspected crack cocaine, a computer and a safe were obtained. Agents were to pursue a search warrant today to see the safe's contents.
D'Alisio said undercover officers bought 11.5 ounces of crack with an estimated street value of $35,000 during the investigation. Five firearms also were taken during the investigation.
D'Alisio said federal weapons charges also may be filed.
Hotel arrests
The investigation also involved the arrests of two Niles men Wednesday night at a U.S. Route 422 hotel.
Mark Allan Honsaker, 32, of Cardigan Street, remains in the Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond. He is charged with aggravated trafficking and complicity to aggravated trafficking.
Anthony Kirksey, 23, of Sayers Court, was released on bond. He is charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs. Both men appeared in Niles Municipal Court on Thursday and preliminary hearings for each are set for next week. Authorities said undercover drug buys also were made at Kirksey's home and at the hotel.
