ROUNDUP Chaney no-hits Wilson, 12-0; Canfield is winner over Niles

By beating Niles, Canfield secured the Metro Athletic Conference championship.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jeff Shaffo, Aaron Boris and Joe Loto combined to pitch a no-hitter as Chaney High's baseball team blanked Wilson 12-0 Wednesday at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
The three pitchers struck out seven and didn't walk anybody. Chris Hlinka of Chaney (11-5, 3-0 City Series) hit two triples and a single and drove in five runs.
Canfield 8, Niles 3: NILES -- Dan Leonard (4-0) worked four innings, allowed five hits and struck out four to pick up the win for Canfield, which won the Metro Athletic Conference title with an 8-1 record.
Leonard also hit a home run and triple and drove in four runs for the Cardinals (16-6). Chad Baker hit a double and single and Tim Dewberry two singles.
Steve Mientkiewcz hit a double and single for the Red Dragons (9-7, 5-4).
Poland 12, Fitch 2: AUSTINTOWN -- A four run second inning, which included a two-run home run by Dave Koval and four more runs in the seventh triggered the Bulldogs (11-4).
Poland turned four double plays, three of them behind winning pitcher John Hay (4-2). Dan Bertolini hit a double and two singles and drove in a run.
Shawn Sutton hit a pair of singles and drove in a run for the Falcons (10-8).
Columbiana 7, Southern Local 3: SALINEVILLE -- The Clippers did all their scoring in the first three innings to give coach Bruce Wolfe his 200th win in 13 seasons at Columbiana.
Winning-pitcher Josh Kistler (1-1) homered, Cale Miller had a single and a double, Justin Shilot doubled and Dean Stokes and Ryan Schmidt each had two hits for the Clippers (12-5, 10-2 Tri-County League).
The Indians are 0-15, 0-13.
Crestview 8, East Palestine 2: EAST PALESTINE -- Crestview (14-5, 11-1 TCL) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Winning pitcher Joe Leskosky (2-0) hit a double and single and Jim Neeld added two singles.
South Range 3, Mineral Ridge 2: MINERAL RIDGE -- South Range scored the deciding run in the top of the seventh inning. Jason King scattered two hits going the distance to pick up the win. He also hit a double. Brad Johnson hit two singles.
W. Reserve 18, Springfield 8: BERLIN CENTER -- The teams combined for 26 hits, including five home runs.
Sophomore Nick Sanders paced the Blue Devils (14-5, 10-2 ICL) with a grand slam in the fifth and a three-run homer in the sixth, good for seven RBIs.
Kyle Kekic went 4-for-4, Luke Strock had three hits, one a double, and Chris Mountain had a single and a home run for Western Reserve.
Also for the winners, who enjoyed a 19-hit attack, Brandon Keck had two doubles, four RBIs and scored three times.
John Vivo and John Davis each had a single and a home run for the Tigers (2-13, 2-8).
Brookfield 6, Hubbard 4: BROOKFIELD -- Behind 3-1, Brookfield scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to pull ahead for good.
Jeff Nasci led the Warriors with a home run in the first inning and another home run in the third.
Winning pitcher Adam Daugherty went the distance to pick up the win and he struck out eight.
Girard 4, Champion 3: CHAMPION -- Dan O'Neill belted a two-run double in the top of the eighth inning for the Indians (11-3, 8-3 Trumbull Athletic Conference), snapping a 2-2 tie.
Shawn Petracca and O'Neill each had two hits for Girard.
