All VFW posts in the State of Ohio will elect new officers during April.
Play help sought
BUTLER, Pa. -- A director, actors , musicians and technicians are being sought for performances of "A Piece of My Heart," a play that depicts the experiences of a group of servicewomen before, during and after the Vietnam War. The play, produced by the Women Veterans Advisory Committee of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Butler, will be performed Aug. 9, 10 and 11 at the medical center. The play was written by Shirley Lauro and produced off Broadway. Ohio Polish Legion
CLEVELAND -- The Ohio Polish Legion of American Veterans is having its bi-annual membership drive in April. Founded in 1928, the PLAV has 94 posts nationwide and 14 posts in Ohio, including PLAV Post 87 in the Youngstown area. Justin J. Nardo (Niles McKinley High School, Niles, '00), grandson of Anthony Nardo, 1909 Robbins Ave., and Joseph Bonanno, 155 E. State St., both of Niles.
UAir Force: Airman Marquita L. Milner, daughter of Gussie and stepdaughter of Jeffery Stone, 3423 Elm Hill Drive N.W., Warren; ,and Airman Robert E. Clark (The Rayen School, Youngstown, '99), son of Cynthia Cashwell, 865 Sunshine Ave., and grandson of Judy Fultz, 1400 Springdale, both of Youngstown.

Air National Guard
Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Steven C. Morris graduated from the aerospace propulsion apprentice (turboprop) course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. Morris is a son of Karen M. Morris, 3032 Goleta Ave., and Steven C. Morris Sr., both of Youngstown, and is a 2001 graduate of Liberty High School.

Army captain
SHARON, Pa. -- Army Capt. Jeffrey D. Smith, son of Henry and Marjorie Smith, 477 S. Oakland Ave., was promoted to his present rank while serving with the 701st Military police Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., where he is attending the Captains Career Course and completing a master's degree in security management. Smith, a 1993 graduate of Sharon High School, received a degree in criminal justice from Gannon University, Erie, Pa., in 1998. He will be assigned in Korea in September.
