Trail cleanup planned
WARREN -- Friends of the Western Reserve Greenway is co-sponsoring a cleanup of a section of the bicycle trail from 9 a.m. to noon April 13. Volunteers will meet at the Lampson Road trailhead one mile east of state Route 45 in Austinburg Township. Gloves, beverages and a light lunch will be provided. Bids will be awarded later this year to pave portions of the trail in Champion, Bristol and Bloomfield townships. The Western Reserve Greenway will eventually form a link for bicyclists and pedestrians between Lake Erie and the Ohio River.
Celebrity Series
WARREN -- Trumbull Town Hall has announced its Celebrity Series for 2002-03. Actress Vicki Lawrence kicks off the four-part series Oct. 16.
Carolyn Andrews, a 62-year-old Peace Corps volunteer, is the featured speaker Nov. 13, followed by Elliot Engel, a scholar and performer who gives new insights into English and American literature March 5; and Daniel Elias, host of "Antiques Roadshow," on April 9, 2003.
Season tickets are available for $45 until June 1 and $50 after June 1. Make checks payable to Trumbull Town Hall-YWCA and mail to the YW at 375 N. Park Ave., Warren 44481. All shows are in Packard Music Hall.
Beatitude House
WARREN -- Catholic Charities Housing Opportunities will have a blessing and open house at the new Beatitude House at 1 p.m. Thursday in the former St. Joseph Convent, 1370 Tod Ave. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will preside.
Beatitude House is two-year transitional housing for homeless women and their children. Humility of Mary Health Partners donated the building, and the Warren-Trumbull Home Consortium provided the primary funding for improvements. The program helps women gain permanent housing and economic stability for their families through education, counseling and supportive services.
May Festival
NEW LYME --The May Festival, an annual craft festival and outdoor fair, will be at Manners Pine Tree Lodge, 780 Dodgeville Road, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 18 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 19. The festival will feature more than 50 crafters and local artisans, blacksmithing demonstrations, entertainment and pony and horse-drawn hay rides. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students and seniors, and children under age 12 are admitted free.
New Lyme is on state Route 46, just south of state Route 6 in Ashtabula County about five miles west of Andover.
