Falfas becomesmaster sergeant
VIENNA -- Air Force Master Sgt. John A. Falfas, of Warren, serving with the 910th Airlift Wing at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, was promoted master sergeant and selected as the 2001 Air Force Reserve Outstanding Security Forces Noncommissioned Officer.
Falfas, who joined the Air Force in May 1991, is an Air Reserve technician with the 910th Security Forces Squadron. A 1987 graduate of Howland High School, he is deployed out of the country in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
First Sergeant of Year
Air Force Master Sgt. Carey B. Shoff was named the 2001 First Sergeant of the Year for the 52nd Fighter Wing at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.
Shoff is first sergeant for the 52nd Component Repair Squadron. He is a son of Clyde and Cheryl Shoff, Butler Grange Road, Salem, and is a 1981 graduate of United Local High School, Hanoverton.

ADVANCED TRAINING

U Marine Cpl. Michael A. Marzano, son of Margy E. Bons, Gilbert, Ariz., and Albert B. Marzano, North Diamond Street, Greenville, Pa., completed the Mountain Warfare Training Course at Bridgeport, Calif. Marzano is a 1995 graduate of Sharon, Pa., High School.
U Army Pvt. DeNae D. DeFoor and National Guard Pvt. Nathan S. Terrill graduated from light-wheel vehicle mechanic advanced individual training (AIT) at Fort Jackson, S.C.
DeFoor is a daughter of Carla M. DeFoor, East Ravenwood Avenue, Youngstown, and a 2001 graduate of The Rayen School, Youngstown.
Terrill is a son of Sheila A. and Chester N. Terrill, Ridge Road, Kinsman, and is a 1999 graduate of Joseph Badger High School, Kinsman.
U Army Reserve Pvt. Seth M. Berresford graduated from heavy-wheeled vehicle mechanic advanced individual training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Berresford is a son of Kay Berresford, Negley, Ohio, and David A. Berresford, Wooster, and is a 2000 graduate of Beaver Local High School, Lisbon.
