At the McDonald Village Council meeting Wednesday night, council:
Approved an ordinance changing the one-year probationary period for police sergeant/detective to six months.
Agreed to buy a street sweeper through the Ohio Cooperative Purchasing Act from Jack Doheny Supplies Inc. of Twinsburg for $93,954.
Heard Mayor James Border say he is still taking applications for the position of assistant building inspector and is still looking for students for summer jobs including street workers, park supervisor and park attendants. Applicants must be graduating from McDonald High School and planning to attend college in the fall. Border also announced that the village's Great American Cleanup date is April 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Heard from Lt. Lou Ronghi that the new Chevy Impala police cruiser will be in service by next week.
Was asked by Scott Smith of Hayes Street to look at the poor sidewalk conditions on Pennsylvania, Garfield and Grant streets. Border said sidewalks are to be maintained by homeowners but that officials would check.
Changed next month's meeting from April 4 to April 8.
Heard that the police department has several recovered bicycles. Residents who may be missing one can check there.
