Israel's handling terrorists just as United States is

Israel's handling terrorists just as United States is
EDITOR:
On 9/11 the United States was attacked by terrorists intent on destroying our country and killing all of us, as well as all the Jews in Israel. Since before Israel was founded, Jews in Israel have been attacked by terrorists intent on destroying their country and killing all of them.
After 9/11, the United States invaded the sovereign territory of Afghanistan to seize and, if necessary, destroy those who perpetrated this act, after the "authorities" -- for all practical purposes the legitimate (or at least accepted) government -- of Afghanistan refused to turn these thugs over to us for punishment.
The Israeli government, after the nominal government of the "occupied territories" refused to turn over the terrorists they were sheltering, entered territory nominally still part of Israel to seize and, if necessary, destroy those who perpetrate attacks against Israeli civilians.
But we seem to think that the United States is right, but the Israelis are wrong.
Within the same time frame as 9/11, the Israelis decided to take the terrorists -- people who use their own children as human shields and murder Jews simply because they're there -- at their word, that they were & quot;soldiers, & quot; and attack them directly, and the U.S. government, in the person of Colin Powell, condemned this.
After 9/11 the United States began a campaign to directly attack the terrorists who killed so many Americans and others. Yet somehow, the Israelis are wrong.
Obviously somebody thinks the American people are idiots.
Or maybe we are.

Evolution should be kept in the lab, not in schools
EDITOR:
The debate over evolution vs. intelligent design and what should be taught in Ohio schools is a most important issue because it centers on the very essence of who man is.
Our scientists would reduce the question to a purely scientific one, and our lawmakers are trying to deal with it on a legislative level. It is none of these. It goes to the very core of who we are as human beings. It is my physical body, my mind and the knowledge it contains and the reasoning it can do. It is my spirit and the moral guide that keeps me doing right when it is nurtured with righteous guidance or wrong when it is damaged.
What you tell a man he is is most critical. If you tell him his daddy is a beast, then he will act like a beast. If you tell him his daddy is a supernatural being with all power and all goodness, he is going to act like his daddy.
We haven't been teaching evolution in our schools for long, and it hasn't taken long too begin to see the effects of it in our children.
I don't say to stop telling our students that scientists have a theory regarding the development of the world and man, but don't teach it as truth. Don't make it law or a tool to measure our children's progress in science.
I for one do not want a child of mine to, even for one minute, believe he evolved from an ape. He was created; yes created, by God; yes God. That is who he is.
I will denounce at home what he is taught at school. There are plenty of other ways to test a child's knowledge in science. This issue must stay out of our schools and remain in the scientist's laboratory where it belongs. Let them continue to try to prove a theory that I know, without any scientific experimentation, that they never will.

Canfield school levy will benefit all children
EDITOR:
On Wednesday, March 13, a woman from Canfield wrote a letter about the Canfield school levy. She has concerns only for the kindergartners of Canfield.
I am asking, "What about the other students of the Canfield School District?" This levy does not only concern kindergartners but concerns all the students. So please vote "yes" for the Canfield School levy so I can get the same education as my older brother, who is a junior, had.
