NEW CASTLE Burglar made himself comfortable, cops say

The suspect told police he was waiting in the house for them to leave the area.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A burglar at an Englewood Avenue home apparently made himself at home -- feeding the homeowner's dog treats, eating pizza, drinking beer and even stopping to smoke a cigarette -- before taking off with jewelry, cash and a car, said New Castle Police.
Marshall Reitnauer, 32, of Highland Avenue was arrested Saturday after police saw him driving a 2002 Nissan Altima reported missing from the house. Reitnauer was in the Lawrence County Jail this morning on $60,000 bond.
He faces charges of burglary, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said after his arrest on Saturday, they found a glass vial with some suspected crack cocaine inside.
What happened: Police said Reitnauer told them he broke into another home on Englewood Avenue early Saturday, but was chased away by the homeowner who then called police. The suspect told authorities he went to a nearby house and waited for police to leave the area.
He spent time watching ESPN, eating and drinking before taking off with jewelry, antique coins and guns, cash and a 2002 Nissan Altima, police said.
Reitnauer was spotted driving the car and stopped by police at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers discovered items believed taken from the Englewood Avenue house in the car.
A woman in the vehicle with Reitnauer does not face any charges.
Police said they are investigating another burglary, with similarities to the one on Englewood Avenue, but have not made any arrests.
A woman who lives on Parkwood Court returned home Monday to discover someone had recently used her coffee pot, ate Jell-O, drank soda pop and apparently slept in her bed and took a shower. The woman, who hadn't been home since Friday, said jewelry and clothing were missing.
