MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Youngstown State's rally against Morehead State fell short in a 10-5 loss Sunday.
The Penguins (3-6), who tied the score after trailing 4-0, were led by Kendall Schlabach and Tim Stacey with two hits each, and Adam Cox drove in three runs.
Andrew Daly, one of six YSU pitchers, took the loss after allowing one unearned run in one inning.
Youngstown State will play its first home game this season Tuesday against Geneva at 3:30 p.m. at Cafaro Field. The Penguins also will play home games Wednesday against Bethany (3 p.m.) and Saturday against Akron (1 p.m.).
Men's golf
ESTERO, Fla. -- Youngstown State finished 12th in a 14-team field at the FGCU/Grandezza Intercollegiate tournament Sunday at The Club at Grandeeza Golf Course.
The Penguins finished with a three-round score of 980. Florida Golf Coast University won the team title with 862.
Jonah Karzmer led YSU by placing 24th (233). Other Penguin golfers included Brian Newell (36th, 241), Ryan Harmon (46th, 248), Dan Traeger (56th, 258) and Shawn Wire (70th, 284).
Diving
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Youngstown State senior Brandi Goettsch placed 18th at the NCAA Region C Diving Zones with a score of 396.85 points at Purdue University.
Indiana's Erin Quinn won the event with 556.
Also for YSU, junior Amanda Smail finished 23rd (231.80) and freshman Kalyn LeVeto was 34th (203).

Westminster's Kingis All-America
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Westminster College junior Stefanie King earned All-America honors for the third straight year, on the final day of competition at the NCAA Division II swimming and diving championships.
King placed 11th in the 200 breaststroke in a school-record 2 minutes, 23.19 seconds.
Junior Jim Mann placed 22nd in the 200 backstroke (1:56.31).
The Titan men finished in 25th place, while the women were 27th.
Grove City'sWhitbeck is champ
OXFORD, Ohio -- Grove City College sophomore Peggy Whitbeck won a national championship in the 200-yard butterfly at the NCAA Division III swimming and diving competition.
Whitbeck set a new Div. III record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2 minutes, 3.03 seconds. She was a national runner-up in the 200 fly last year.
Volleyball champs
MONACA, Pa. -- Trumbull Grey 14's won the championship of the Gold Bracket at the Junior Olympic volleyball tournament.
Trumbull Grey won its pool play 3-0 before defeating East Ohio VBC 25-7, 25-18 in the semifinals and Advanced Approach VBC 25-17, 25-19 for the championship.
Members of the team were Kim Budd, Karen Cover and Cali Olyer of Hubbard; Nicole Smaldino, Kim Smaldino, Kelsey Schaefer of Austintown; Jeanette Geer and Taralee Williams of Brookfield; and Michele Pelini of Canfield. The team was coached by Jeremy Porter of Hubbard.
Hockey teamwins district
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Pennsylvania Beaver Badgers Midget Tier Two hockey team won the Mid-Am district tournament.
The team defeated Indiana, tied with Ohio in overtime and then beat Kentucky.
Tyler Miller, a junior at the Mahoning County Educational Resource Center, was co-captain and played defense for the Badgers. The team was coached by Bob Hawthorne, manager of the Ice Zone in Boardman.
Starting April 2 in San Jose, Calif., the Badgers will play the top 12 teams in the nation for the championship.

Quigley winssenior event
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Dana Quigley made a 10-foot par putt on the final hole, holding off Fuzzy Zoeller and Bob Gilder for a one-stroke victory at the Siebel Classic in Silicon Valley.
Quigley finished at 4-under 212 and won $210,000.

Ralf Schumacherwins G.P.
SEPANG, Malaysia -- Ralf Schumacher broke his brother's Malaysian Grand Prix winning streak, leading a 1-2 finish for Williams-BMW that challenged Ferrari's grip on Formula One.
This was Schumacher's fourth Grand Prix victory. The German started from fourth on the grid and finished the accident-marred race almost 40 seconds ahead of teammate and runner-up Juan Montoya.
