League change posesattendance problems
Fanfare:
While I understand "ease of scheduling" games as a reason for Boardman and Fitch to join this Canton/Akron League, I can't see another good reason. Is this only a football league? If Fitch couldn't win the SVC, do they think they can compete in the Federal?
As a parent of a player, I would be VERY upset that I must travel to Canton every other Friday to watch games. As a fan, I'd be just as upset. Who's going to fill the seats?
The bottom line ... does anybody care about the kids or parents?
I also remember Jim Tressel supporting Youngstown's attempt at a magna school. I hope they are paying attention.
None of this has made any sense to me except the idea of a Parochial league for the schools who can recruit (wink, wink).
I'm now happy that my sons attend(ed) Brookfield, where I only worry about driving from one end of Trumbull County to the other.

Community says thanksfor South Range season
Fanfare:
The members of the South Range School community have many reasons to be proud. On Saturday, March 9, our basketball team gave us one more reason.
As all our sports teams do, the players gave everything they had. Although we lost the game, the heart, spirit, and sportmanship shown by the team reminded us again of how fortunate we are at South Range. Our students win, lose, laugh, cry, and strive for their best together. We as parents encourage and appreciate this. Our children are also not afraid to show their feelings. The picture of one of our disappointed players on your sports page on March 10 should not give a negative impression. For those of us who know these athletes, this is a picture that illustrates the tremendous effort and emotion that our children give in all they do. On behalf of the South Range School community, we want to say thank you, Raiders. We are so proud of you!
