Raffle to aid Mercer Co. retarded

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- They're calling it a playhouse, but the 8-by-8-foot structure the Arc of Mercer County Foundation is giving away is much more than that.
Built by members of the Mercer County Builders Association and Carpenters Local 268, the building is insulated and heated, has inside and outside electric lights, custom wooden trim, a porch and finished interior walls as well as crown molding and a parquet floor.
It's valued at $10,000.
It's on display at Hermitage Shop 'n Save at 2199 E. State St. today but will be moved to the Hickory VFW Banquet Center at 5550 E. State St. on Friday where it will be featured in the county builders association's annual Home Show on Saturday and Sunday.
The custom-built playhouse will be raffled off during the show and delivered free of charge to the winner.
All proceeds benefit individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities in Mercer County.
The Arc of Mercer County Foundation is the fund-raising arm of Mercer County Association for the Retarded Inc.
