Party in Niles marks Garlands' 50th anniversary



McDONALD -- A party was held March 3 at McMenamy's in Niles as a surprise celebration honoring Mr. and Mrs. Ray Garland, 2100 Salt Springs Road, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Invitations for the event were extended by the couple's children and their families, Patty Proud, Bill Garland, Tammy Garland and John Garland, all of McDonald, and Ray Garland of Huron.
Completing the family circle are 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The former Dorothy McCormick and Mr. Garland were united in marriage March 13, 1952, at the Chapel of Friendly Bells, Youngstown. They are members of Youngstown Baptist Church.
Mr. Garland, a U.S. Air Force veteran, is retired after serving as a foreman at RMI in Niles. His wife has been employed by several businesses over the years, including Memory Lane Gift Shop in the Eastwood Mall and Packard Electric in Warren.
