Traffic stop leads to cocaine charge

AUSTINTOWN -- A Youngstown man was arrested this morning when police found suspected rock cocaine in his jacket after a traffic stop. The man, 22, of Fruit Street, was charged with drug abuse-cocaine.
He also was wanted by the Trumbull County sheriff's office on two warrants charging him with traffic violations and the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department on a warrant accusing him of obstructing official business.
Police stopped the man at about 1:40 a.m. when he turned onto the westbound state Route 11 ramp off Mahoning Avenue from the eastbound lane. He was arrested on the warrants and brought back to the police station, where he was searched.
Another matter: In an unrelated matter, police also are investigating a report that airline tickets costing $1,100 were purchased using the credit card of a Rosemont Drive man without his knowledge.
The man said he didn't have the statement from the card and that he destroyed the card five months ago.
