AREA BOXING Seven-bout show set March 16 in Warren



The professional event will feature John Bailey and Dean Nichols in an eight-round bout.
WARREN -- A seven-bout boxing card called "Bad Blood and the St. Patrick's Day Battle" is set March 16 at Packard Music Hall.
The main event will feature John "Macho Midget" Bailey (19-8-2) against Dean "The Destroyer" Nichols (10-5-0) from Lima. The junior welterweight battle is set for eight rounds.
Another eight-round bout will feature junior middleweights Charlie Howe (13-3-0) of Grelton against Brian Thatcher (6-6-0) of Gallipolis.
New Castle's Mark Norge (10-6-0) will fight a six-round bout against an opponent to be named.
Erie's Lou Bizzarro was scheduled to fight, but was injured during training in Florida. In his place will be another of the famous Bizzarro fighters, his cousin Ernie, the youngest of the Bizzarros.
Bizzarro will fight Randy Todd (1-1-0) in a junior welterweight battle.
Torres on card: P.C. Torres, who won his pro debut in 2001 at the Expo Center, will seek his second win against J.C. Coon of Huntington, W. Va.. Coon is making his pro debut and they meet in the welterweight division.
In a charity bout, Jim Loboy of Hot FM 101 will face Brian "The Freak" Morris.
Dominic Leonelli, a student at Youngstown's Woodrow Wilson High School, will fight an exhibition with Brian Hemline of Toledo.
Ticket prices are $20 for floor and $10 for upper balcony.
The bouts are being produced by Power Pac Productions in conjunction with Riordan's, Cumulus Radio and Money Care Center are responsible for the show.
Randy Stephens, the former number-one ranked cruiserweight and ranked heavyweight contender, will be honored.
Stephens will be the recipient of the First Annual Power Pac Award.
Former boxing greats from the 1940s-60s are expected to attend.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the first fight is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
