WEST BRANCH School board

The West Branch Local Board of Education met recently and:
Accepted resignations of 30-year teachers Jim Kestner and Laraine Gillespie. Kestner retired Feb. 28, and Gillespie will finish April 30. Roger Shafer, a custodian, retired Feb. 28.
Hired John Hancock and Scott Loudon as junior varsity baseball coaches, and Alexandra Lepp and Gerry Brain as junior varsity softball coaches,
Recognized Alliance Elks' Teen-agers of the Month, Rachael Kocher and Adam Burton.
Commended coach Chuck Campbell and the varsity girls' basketball team for winning the Northeastern Buckeye Conference title for the fourth year in a row, and coach Mike Helm and the varsity wrestling team for winning the conference championship.
Approved the design for the new high school building as submitted by architects Ricciuti and Balog.
Accepted the architects' requirements for two new elementary buildings, which will replace the Knox Elementary and Damascus Elementary/Junior High buildings.
Voted to conduct a special meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the high school library to deal with construction issues.
