YOUNGSTOWN -- Siffrin Residential Association, a nonprofit social agency based in Canton, has elected Laurie Quinn, who is human resources director of GBS Corp. in Canton, as president of its board of directors. Siffrin provides services to people with developmental disabilities and operates nine group homes in Mahoning County and one group home in Trumbull County.
CORTLAND -- The Delphi Packard Electric Systems molding plant in Cortland has been awarded the 2002 Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing, an award Business Week magazine calls the "Nobel Prize of manufacturing. Utah State University's College of Business administers the award to promote world-class manufacturing and to recognize companies that achieve superior customer satisfaction and business results. The Cortland facility was also named one of America's elite factories by Fortune magazine and was named a finalist for the Computerworld Honors 21st Century Award for its integrated information technology system.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Three area Taco Bell restaurants were recognized for outstanding commitment to operational excellence by Tricon Global Restaurants, which operates the Taco Bell chain. Local restaurants presented Golden Bell's Best awards under the company's recognition and certification program are located at 3640 Belmont Avenue in Youngstown, 15924 State Route 170 in Calcutta and 1560 West Main St. in Grove City, Pa. Rick Sikora of Youngstown is the franchise owner for the three winning restaurants. He and his family own 44 Taco Bell eateries.
