Calderones mark golden jubilee at family dinner
POLAND -- Mr. and Mrs. Armand Calderone, 6725 James St., were honored May 3 at a family dinner on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple renewed their vows June 2 at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown with Bishop Thomas Tobin presiding, and will further celebrate the occasion on a trip to Florida and a private party later this year.
Mr. Calderone and the former Sarah Scalise were married May 3, 1952, at St. Patrick Church in Youngstown. He served as a corporal with the 142nd Armored Signal Company during World War II and retired in 1979 as owner-operator of Armies Electronics in Youngstown, which he had owned since 1953. He is a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Mahoning County Stamp Club and Ring Two Magic Club. He also is a former member of the Italian-American Veterans Club and is a Dacas volunteer.
His wife is a member of the Dominican Laity, St. Dominic Senior Citizens and Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber, and served a camp director for Camp Fire Girls Inc. in 1968.
Their family includes their children and their spouses, Sal and Jill Calderone of Poland, Joseph Calderone of Rogers, Patrice Calderone of Poland, and Marie and David Mauerman of Boardman, and three grandchildren.
The Calderones belong to St. Dominic Church in Youngstown and the Youngstown Cursillo Movement.
