YOUNGSTOWN -- A bartender was issued a citation for serving alcohol while the bar she works at is under suspension. Police cited the woman at 11:15 p.m. Friday at the Blast Furnace, Federal Plaza West, after observing her sell a bottled beer to a customer at the bar. The establishment is under a 30-day suspension until July 11 from the Ohio Liquor Control Commission. When questioned, according to reports, the manager said he was unaware of the suspension.
Purse and van stolen
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Cherry Hill Avenue woman told police a man took her purse and her van shortly after she arrived home. The 48-year-old woman was standing in her driveway after opening her garage door about midnight Friday, when a man approached her with a handgun wrapped in a beige scarf. The woman said she fled to her garage, then the man entered her van, with her purse on the seat, and drove away. The van was recovered on Erie Street near Pyatt Street, but the man was not located.
Woman abducted
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are searching for an 18-year-old woman abducted from her cousin's apartment. The woman's cousin, who lives at an apartment complex on Tyrell Street, told police a man knocked at the door around 2:30 a.m. Friday, grabbed her cousin by the throat and forced her into his vehicle. The man is described as Hispanic, in his mid-20s, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 160 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a goatee. According to reports, he was wearing blue pants, a gray shirt and a blue hat, and was driving a gray 1989 Buick LeSabre four-door car.
Lowellville man guilty
STRUTHERS -- Darrell Hoover, 35, of West Water Street, Lowellville, was fined $200 plus costs in municipal court after pleading no contest and being found guilty of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Hoover was arrested Jan. 26 in front of his home after Lowellville police found him barricaded in a sport utility vehicle with a rifle, hunting knife and ammunition, threatening to kill himself. Three police officers were slightly injured in the struggle to apprehend Hoover. A charge of mishandling a firearm was dismissed.
