Wanted on warrants, woman surrenders

AUSTINTOWN -- A Niles woman who was wanted on 15 warrants accusing her of passing bad checks turned herself in Thursday after learning that her name had appeared in The Vindicator.
Jennifer Poling, 31, of Sherman Avenue, heard charges from three of the warrants Thursday in Mahoning County Court here. No plea was accepted, as the charges are felonies.
Judge David D'Apolito set Poling's bond at $10,000, and her next court date is scheduled for Monday.
Austintown Detective Sgt. John Myers said Poling told D'Apolito that she decided to turn herself in after a friend called her and said her name was in Wednesday's paper.
She was wanted on three warrants in Austintown, as well as nine warrants in Boardman and one each in Canfield, Hubbard and Youngstown. Police said Poling has been passing bad checks at local jewelry and electronics stores, including $2,000 in bad checks in Austintown during the last month.
Myers said he received several calls about Poling after the article appeared. He thanked the callers for their information.
