Mahoning County grand jury indicts woman, teen in deaths

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted Michelle T. Burton of Ellenwood Avenue and Dustin Phipps of Moyer Avenue on murder charges.
Burton, 30, is a suspect in the death of 89-year-old Michael Butch, who was stabbed in the throat and abdomen on the city's South Side in February. He died May 2.
She was originally indicted earlier this year on felonious assault, but county prosecutors sought a new indictment after Butch's death. She now faces charges of murder, robbery and felonious assault.
Phipps, 16, was bound over from juvenile court to face charges as an adult in the February killing of 18-year-old Adam Dixon of Boardman.
Police say Dixon was shot three times in the head after an argument at an apartment on West Boston Avenue on the city's South Side.
His body was dumped into the Mahoning River and was later found floating near the Lowellville treatment plant. The grand jury indicted Phipps on charges of murder and abuse of a corpse.
