CANFIELD Board notes

The Canfield school board also handled these items:
Approved a motion to pay a 15 percent increase in the premium for employees' hospitalization insurance. The increase will cost the schools $256,000. Board members had included the increase in their budget projections. They did not budget for any other increases during the school year. The hospitalization premium for the schools has increased 50 percent since last July.
Discussed meeting with a group of community representatives in July to talk about some of the issues facing the schools. The date and location for the meeting hasn't been set.
Approved a motion reducing the number of days some employees, including librarians and the high school athletic director, are required to work when school is not in session next year. The move is expected to save the schools $15,000.
