NOTEBOOK From Cafaro Field

Good promotions: The Scrappers gave away a C.C. Sabathia bobble-head doll to the first 1,000 fans, age 15 or older, through the gates. It was the first of five such promotions this year, all planned on Tuesday home games. Jeff Wilkins, a kicker with the St. Louis Rams, is expected to be in attendance July 3 when his doll is distributed. The gates were opened 30 minutes early for the hand out. Later this summer a Bernie Kosar, a Dave Blaney and a Dave Dravecky doll will be distributed.
First pitch: WFMJ-TV Sports Director Dana Balash threw out the ceremonial first pitch from in front of the mound. It was a lob, but down the middle of the plate.
Open seats: Monday's game drew only 2,365 fans, one of the smallest home crowds ever at Cafaro Field. Tuesday wasn't much better, with 3,131 on hand.
He's back: Taking in the game was Rob Brim, who worked for the Scrappers the past two years as the Director of Media Relations and then as the Director of Concessions. He's now employed at the Lake Shore Country Club in Erie, Pa., and will begin working on a high school teaching certificate at St. Petersburg (Fla.) College in the fall.
Levity: Larry Gibson, clad in a tuxedo, entertained the crowd with a variety of antics. A game-day employee of the Promotions Department, he used a squirt gun to shoot the audience and later danced on the dugout roof with a selected female fan. Later this year he plans to ride a pedal car around the concourse.
