Charged in beating
AUSTINTOWN -- A Warren man accused of beating a dancer Tuesday night at Club 76 on Seventy-six Drive has been arrested and charged by police with obstruction of official business and felony domestic violence. James McKinney Jr., 31, of Iddings Street, Warren, also was wanted in Trumbull County on a probation violation. He has been convicted of domestic violence in the past.
The dancer, who lives with McKinney, said McKinney came into the club around 9 p.m. and said she needed to call her mother. When she said she wasn't allowed to call her family, he became angry. The dispute escalated, and McKinney wrestled the dancer to the ground and hit her, the dancer said. Club security then stepped in and pulled McKinney off the dancer.
The dancer had a bruise on her upper thigh, police said. A report also states that McKinney was injured when he struggled with club security. It does not describe the nature of his injuries.
Police said McKinney later gave them a fake Social Security number and name. He is set to appear in Mahoning County Court here at 9 a.m. Thursday.
Arrested after chase
AUSTINTOWN -- A Youngstown man was charged early today with receiving stolen property after a car chase that ended on Youngstown's South Side.
The man, 23, of Garfield Avenue, is accused of riding in a stolen car that fled from police around 2 a.m. The driver ran from police and has not been found.
Police said they tried to pull the car over on state Route 11 after learning it had been reported stolen Saturday from Austintown. The car's driver, however, sped away, leading police onto Interstate 680, Mahoning Avenue, and into Youngstown.
Youngstown police joined the chase there. The car eventually stopped in front of 78 E. Ravenwood Ave., where the driver and the man got out and ran from police. Youngstown police later found and arrested the man west of Market Street.
The stolen car, which was not placed in park, rolled into an Austintown police car as the driver and man got out and ran. The cruiser's front fender and passenger door were damaged.

Another engineering firm, Taneri Engineering Inc. of Warren, was to get a $50,770 contract to design road, storm sewer and water line improvements in the Bolindale area of Howland Township.
For an additional fee of $19,000, the company is expected to oversee the $600,000 project.
Funds for shelter
WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners were to approve buying a $16,000 portable decontamination shelter today for the emergency management agency.
The device, which will be carried by the county HazMat team, will be paid for with money from the U.S. Department of Justice, which awarded $103,000 to the county agency.
Removing furniture
WARREN -- DiPillo's Office Furniture of Youngstown has agreed to pay $50 to take several truckloads of old office furniture off Trumbull County's hands.
County commissioners have been trying for several weeks to find a buyer for the furniture, which has been stored in the old jail building.
Officials estimated it would have cost $8,000 to take it all to the dump.
